Pilar Olabarria holds an MA in Conceptual Art, an MFA in Installation and Performance Art, and a Post Graduate degree in Art Therapy. Pilar is interested in mixed media art, from installation and performance to painting with oils.
Pilar received artist’s grants from Capp Street, New Langton Arts, Secession Gallery, and the San Francisco Art Commission. For the last 20 years, Pilar also taught art at Napa State Psychiatric Hospital and Vacaville Correctional Facility. As a volunteer, Pilar has traveled to the Middle East, Africa, and South America doing art projects with children and youth.
Pilar has been an instructor at Creativity Explored since 1984. She assumed the position of Service Coordinator in 2005.
