Michael Napper
Teaching Artist
Staff Member since 2017
By Joseph Green
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Michael Napper is a painter and black and white film photographer. He also has kept visual journals since the early 1980s. He describes the journals as "an on-going, open-ended 'studio' in portable format, a place to collect, explore, experiment and refine one's ideas."
Michael has given art lectures and demonstrations at private and public schools, and nonprofit art organizations throughout the southern California area. He also has taught creative writing courses at Venice Arts.
Before being hired as a Teaching Artist at Creativity Explored in 2017, Michael began as a guest artist teaching visual journal workshops for CE studio artists as well as for the public. He has been living in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2012.

“My time at Creativity Explored has been more rewarding than anything I have experienced in the art world. Working with the artists at Creativity Explored is inspiring because there is a simplicity and purity to their focus, and it is an on-going education for me, in my own art practice, and in life itself.”
