Leo Dugan

Care Companion

STAFF MEMBER SINCE 2024

Leo Dugan grew up moving between the Bay Area and East Texas and moved back to San Francisco in 2020 after studying literature and American studies at Wesleyan University. They work mostly with found objects and chance, trying out new techniques and exploring unlikely combinations. Interests include: the utility of discarded things, nontraditional value systems, absurdity/nonsense, transformation, and possible futures.

Leo has been a junk hauler, archivist, teacher, paralegal, care provider, and organizer. They most recently worked with an abolitionist non-profit, Prison Radio, supporting incarcerated journalists to publish radio commentaries online. Leo thrives in creative/collaborative spaces and feels very at home in the studio at Creativity Explored. They find joy in building bonds of solidarity and care and want to see their community become a place where autonomy is protected and needs are met. They are excited to deepen their work as an advocate for disability justice, access in the arts, and above all, the artists themselves.

They live communally and have a dedication to home improvement. They like sewing, watching movies, making pizza, and biking. When they aren't biking around, they can be found walking their dog, Darcy, visiting their favorite parks, and chatting with neighbors.
