Album artwork by Camille Holvoet for BREGN’s new release

The album cover of folk musician Jonas Mikkelson’s new single “DREAMING” releases on March 25th under his stage name BREGN, and features the artwork “Golden Gate Bridge” by Creativity Explored artist Camille Holvoet. BREGN draws from influences like the Beatles, Velvet Underground, and Elliot Smith, creating lo-fi, soulfully rendered tunes with a vintage-like sound, layered vocals, and tape saturation. The song is meant to calm the listener of their nightmares. For Jonas Mikkelson, a dream is not possible to buy and is never worth dying for — he conveys this by drawing from his experiences in the music business. Mikkelson felt a connection to Holvoet’s work in particular in her references to both anxiety and joy, relieving pressures of the past through her creative process.

I really feel her Golden Gate Bridge is a good match for the song. Firstly, the drawing feels really dreamy - like a warm happy California dreaming. Secondly, I really love the great choice of colors. There are warm sand colors, the lovely red Golden Gate Bridge, and beautiful purple flying “Good Year.” Then there are the beautiful butterflies and flowers nicely decorating the drawing.
The art simply resembles a dream I would want to promote to the one who has nightmares and anxiety.
— Jonas Mikkelson
