The gallery transforms into a fiber-based feast for the eyes to spotlight the handiwork behind the Mode Brut fashion exhibition.
We are pleased to present Mode Brut Atelier at the Creativity Explored gallery, on view from September 10 through October 30, 2021. Mode Brut Atelier is an evolving installation fashioned as an accessory to the Mode Brut exhibition produced in collaboration with the Museum of Craft and Design.
A hybrid “textile exhibition” and “clothing design workshop,” Mode Brut Atelier invites viewers to explore the creative processes behind CE artists working in fiber art and fashion design.
A culmination of more than 18 months of creating at home, the artworks and textiles on display involve hundreds of hours of labor by artists and teachers. Many hands contributed to the artworks beyond the makers, including teachers making supply deliveries and facilitating exchanges between artists.
Textiles by dozens of artists will be on view, along with signature works by artists such as Katherine Finn-Gamino, Maribel Guzman, Tranesha Smith-Kilgore, Miriam Minguia, Nubia Ortega, Kevin Roach, Vincent Jackson, and more. Throughout the show, artists will be encouraged to add to the installation and create new fashions – all available for sale.
As a fun alternative to carefully planned patterns and sewn assemblages, several artists will add their personal style to classic t-shirts. Come back and visit often to watch the racks of blank t-shirts become one-of-a-kind masterpieces for the urban catwalk.
One-of-a-kind custom shoes by DOGO featuring artwork by various artists are available for immediate sale at the gallery in person.
Make an appointment to visit the CE gallery to enjoy a close-up tactile experience celebrating the process, passion, and inspiration behind the milestone Mode Brut exhibition.
