b.1970 ∙ CE artist since 2019
Enkh-Amar Shagdarguntev (b. 1970) is an illustrator with a deep interest in architecture. His references span iconic San Francisco scenery, intricate facades, and elaborate interiors—all animated by figural accompaniments of the people and animals that inhabit the scene. Working primarily with watercolor and marker, Shagdarguntev communicates the vibrancy and contrast of the visual world through his color composition. His work pays special attention to geometry while challenging the viewer to rethink perspective, creating pieces with endless points of visual interest while maintaining simplicity and the integrity of reference.
Shagdarguntev has been featured in a variety of group exhibitions across the Bay Area, including I Wish I Had A Window at the & Beyond Gallery in Oakland and Mode Brut at Saks Fifth Avenue in San Francisco. He was also featured in the 2025 exhibition All In, at the Fresh Eye Gallery in Minneapolis, MN, his first show of national scale.
