CE artists transform Hotel G lobby with ‘Golden G’s art installation
Located at 386 Geary Street in Union Square, boutique hotel Hotel G is home to over 100 artworks by Creativity Explored artists, which can be found in individual guest rooms, the lobby, and the conference area. Hotel G’s newest commission is a one-of-a-kind installation consisting of over 50 commissioned wooden “G”s that hang in a mobile-like fashion.
This commissioned project began over a year ago, as ten CE artists -- Eric Boysaw, Kevin Cordoba, Christina Marie Fong, Camille Holvoet, Gabriel Maduena, Thomas Pringle, Guadalupe Ramos, Quintin Rodriguez, Gregory Sams, and Alex Yeap – illustrated Hotel G’s signature letter in varying sizes, shapes, fonts, and forms.
These original drawings were then replicated into carved wooden pieces painted gold. Now, the commissioned “G”s hang as a mobile installation at the hotel’s entrance - creating an artful division between the check-in desk and the front walkway.
We are thrilled to continue our long-standing partnership with Hotel G, adding another commissioned artwork to the hotel’s collection. A seven-foot canvas painting by Creativity Explored artist Richard Wright also graces the hotel lobby.
The significance of this partnership is multifaceted. At CE, we take pride in breaking down barriers in the art world via projects like the “Golden G” installation that connect our artists with communities right here in San Francisco. Rather than buying commercial art from a manufacturer or outsourcing prints, Hotel G has continued to support CE by collaborating with our Professional Art Services department to procure local artwork that makes an impact.
Hotel G general manager Steve Rizzo says it best: “Working with Creativity Explored is such a pleasure. Our artful-organic way of conceptualizing and watching things come to life is so rewarding. The enthusiasm to create is overwhelming and I’m overjoyed to be on this journey with them.”
