Creativity Explored is delighted to participate in Looking Back, the 14th White Columns Annual exhibition featuring the abstract work of Evelyn Reyes. A longstanding partner of Creativity Explored, White Columns is also celebrated as one of New York's oldest alternative art spaces.
Evelyn Reyes worked at Creativity Explored from 2002 to 2017. She became known for her repeated abstract shapes in oil pastels on paper. Working on one specific shape at a time, her periods of abstract depictions included cakes, garbage cans, and carrots. With ritualistic reverence for each aspect of the process, Reyes' art practice mirrored the repetition and order central to her daily life.
Sticking true to her routine, after each completed piece, Reyes would carefully examine it, cradle it in her arms, and take her finished piece to specific cardinal points in the studio.
Creativity Explored invites you to join White Columns as they celebrate the work of Evelyn Reyes and many more artistic voices.
