Daniel Green’s dynamic work captures the intersection of sports and identity. In Get in the Game: Sports, Art, Culture, Green’s work conveys a playful fascination with American entertainment and popular culture. Working on wood, cardboard, and paper, Green uses ink to draw figures from television, politics, sports, and history, meticulously listing dates, titles, cities, and names, bringing viewers face-to-face with the complex relationship between sports and contemporary culture.

When the World Is Watching examines the global spectacle of sports and the power of media in shaping public perception. A passionate fan of Bay Area sports, Chu’s work also explores the playful relationship between spectacle and community, capturing how the fervor of a sporting event unites fans and cities, fostering a collective identity.

Unity through Skateboarding celebrates the power of skateboarding as a force for social connection and creative expression. A product of his native Shanghai, Andrew Li frequently explores cities in motion, capturing the excitement and vibrancy that the skateboard community brings to San Francisco and beyond. His work highlights how culture transcends borders, building communities across urban landscapes. Li’s quick-handed, deliberate process captures the energy of skaters weaving through busy streets, showing how the eye latches onto certain details while summarizing others, making sense of the dynamic and chaotic rhythm of the urban environment.
