SFMOMA features Yukari Sakura in Pet Portraits Day
CE artist Yukari Sakura has been selected to participate as one of some 50 Bay Area artists in the SFMOMA Pet Portraits Day live event. Known for her skillful and loving portraits of animals, Yukari is a perfect choice for this art experience dedicated to our furry friends.
About Pet PORTraits Day
In celebration of the Joan Brown retrospective, SFMOMA is partnering with the San Francisco SPCA to bring you Pet Portraits Day, an exciting live art extravaganza. Joan Brown was known for her enduring love of animals, and you can find many depictions of cats and dogs (many of them her own pets) throughout the exhibition on Floor 7 of SFMOMA. With this inspiration in mind, visit the museum on February 4 and share a digital photo of your pet with SFMOMA for the chance to receive a complimentary pet portrait made by a local artist!

About Yukari Sakura
Yukari Sakura is a book of wisdom when it comes to her favorite subjects. Ask her about what she likes, and she will go into great detail about the given topic. Animated and expressive, Sakura's artwork is an accurate representation of her personality.
“I have been drawing since I was 3 years old," Sakura says. "I draw things that I like. I make stories with the things I draw." Gathering inspiration from mythological tales, animated films, video games, heroes, daily life, and historical events, Sakura works primarily with watercolor, colored pencils, and paint. She also creates animations based on animals and their environments, writing out what she calls “documents” and then basing subsequent drawings off her research.
