Emma Fisher is a designer and illustrator from San Francisco. She is currently pursuing an MFA in illustration from the School of Visual Arts in New York, where she is focused on crafting visual stories for children and adults.
Much of her work engages with the myths and fairy tales she loved as a child, using them as a starting point to explore changes wrought on the body by disability and illness, as well as to stoke awe and wonder at the natural world.
Spurred by her own experiences with chronic illness, Emma completed a certificate in disability studies through the City University of New York in 2023, which wonderfully coincided with her visiting the Creativity Explored studio for the first time. She immediately connected with CE’s commitment to creating a space for disabled artists to build their artistic practices, collaborate with each other, and dictate their own career trajectories.
