"Collage is an art form with many uses," says Makeya Kaiser, explaining, collage "offers a new way to think about my painting.”
Her early drawings were often made from discreet circles, outlined in black, delicately colored, and set in wavering rows. They are mysterious and beautiful and exemplify her statement “I like the spaces around the shapes.”
More recently Kaiser was creating tributes to some of her favorite singers using a number of different media including textiles, animations, as well as original music videos. You can watch Kaiser’s Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey-themed music videos on the CE YouTube page.
Kaiser curated her first exhibition titled The Mask Show at Creativity Explored 2 in September 2015, The Flag Show in 2018, and was planning a new curatorial foray before leaving the studio in 2019.
