Abel Pineda
b. 1969, Huetamo, Michoacan, Mexico ∙ CE artist since 1999
Abel Pineda is known for his precise landscapes and cityscapes, which convey a sense of nostalgia and memory that makes his artwork very accessible. Pineda's drawings and paintings incorporate his many stories about life in Michoacan with his mother. Themes of his mother's food and work on their farm emerge through the ranchito’s bountiful trees, birds, butterflies, cows, goats, armadillos and flowers. Fine lines, localized color, and attention to detail characterize Pineda’s practice.
